VIDEO: Aarhus Jazz Orchestra at Indo-Danish Conference

On February 24th 2015, Lars Møller performed his music piece ‘Blue skies in Kamchatka’ at the conference ’Exploring Indo-Danish Cooperation’ along with three other musicians from Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. ‘Blue skies in Kamchatka’ fuses the Danish and Indian music style. The band consisted of Lars Møller on tenor sax, Mads Bærentzen on piano, Thomas Ovesen on bass and Ole Theil on tabla.

Lars Møller and Ole Theill have both spend a long time studying the classical music tradition of India by. After living in New York from 1987-89 and playing with a number of legendary jazz musicians, Lars Møller spend several prolonged periods studying with shanei masters Pandit Anant Lal and his son Pandit Daya Shankar. Ole Theil spend several decades studying with tabla master Pandit Ishwar Lal Mishra in Varanasi.

Presently Lars Møller is Artistic Director and General Manager for Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. He is also an internationally acclaimed composer and conductor for big bands, and he is working on the long term Indian/Danish musical collaboration project “Bollywood Beats and Big Band”.
