One of the noticeable aspects of Danish worklife is its management culture which is dominated by a high degree of respect for the individual employee and a relaxed and friendly tone at the workplace. The manager prefers to be a member of the team and will typically see the employees as equals. For many Danish companies it has proved to be a successful business strategy.

__ C. F. Tietgen (1829-1901) was a Danish businessman and financier who was famous for his humanitarian leadership. He took part in establishing several successful companies, including the Danish beer manufacturer Tuborg, and the Danish sugar manufacturer Danisco A/S.


__ Business in Denmark: Among the world’s Top 5
According to the “The Best Countries For Business” report published by Forbes in October 2011, Denmark ranks #5 in the world for doing business. This superior ranking is a result of the country’s stable economic policy and long history of free trade with low inflation. A high degree of personal and financial freedom, minimal bureaucracy and corruption, participation in free and fair elections, good opportunities for protection of minority shareholders and good conditions for entrepreneurs and high-tech companies also contributes to the high score in according to Forbes.

__ Clean technology
Striving to fight environmental problems, the European Business and Technology Centre has invested 10 million euro into a pilot project which will introduce a so-called “smart city” concept in Asia. The project is carried out in collaboration with Copenhagen Cleantech Clusters which will provide cleantech solutions to India.

__ District Energy
District Energy Partnership is a new initiative established to promote district energy solutions throughout EU and other potential markets. The partnership company works internationally with base in the Danish company Confederation of Danish Industry. It provides a new and modern energy system which will supply heating and cooling in urban areas in an environmental friendly way.

__ The ‘Unboss’ movement
With their new book ‘Unboss’, a well-known Danish businessman and a young management consultant seek to start a movement that questions the industrial society's way of thinking, where an organisation's financial profit is more important than its employees and its potential to do good in society.
According to the authors, an employer should not be commanding or controlling but should take the knowledge of the employees into account and make sure they are aware of their purpose in the company. This strategy, already incorporated in many companies in countries such as India, has turned out to increase productivity and thereby lead to greater earnings, they argue.
